I am running this year’s New York City Marathon for The Ellie Ruby Foundation. Ellie Ruby, my beloved cousin, is my inspiration for running the marathon and supporting this organization – which was founded in her honor following her battle against infantile brain cancer.  The Ellie Ruby Foundation helps families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis by providing emotional support and financial assistance, raising awareness and funding research, and giving recognition to pediatric cancer nurses. 

I will proudly run the 26.2 mile race representing The Ellie Ruby Foundation and supporting a cause that is so close to my heart.  As I hopefully cross the finish line of the NYC Marathon, I will not only feel a sense of accomplishment, but also the satisfaction of knowing that I have helped make a difference in the lives of those families facing this terrible disease.
